Substance Addiction

We are the only general hospital in Rhode Island with Level IV Alcohol & Drug Detoxification Program. Under careful medical supervision, adult patients receive daily therapy designed specifically for safe detoxification. The 15-bed alcohol detoxification unit offers comprehensive care and recovery services second to none.

Patients with serious alcohol and drug problems often carry with them other medical complications. Since this program is located within a general medical hospital, those patients can receive help as needed for these other issues.

Together, our qualified team of professionals works to treat patients' physical and emotional dependence on alcohol and drugs. Our staff works closely with patients and families to develop an individualized program to meet the mental, emotional and physical needs of each patient.

Designed to treat both the physiological effects of alcohol abuse and any coexisting medical conditions a patient may have, the Alcohol & Drug Detoxification Program at Roger Williams helps people safely reach recovery. Patients who successfully complete this program can continue their treatment with enrollment in our Addiction Services Center.
